Blotter: Reports of identity theft in Glencoe

New IdentityTheft Scam

The following items were taken from Glencoe Public Safety Department reports and press releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

D’ Angelo D. Dunlap, 22, of the 5900 block of W. Erie Street, Chicago, was charged Jan. 25 with domestic battery, violation of an order of protection, interfering with reporting of domestic violence, theft under $500 and possession of cannabis after an incident in Glencoe, police said. He was held on bond and has a scheduled court date of Feb. 11.

NO VALID LICENSE

Randy A. Vasquez, 33, of the 3300 block of W. Brooke Avenue, Waukegan, was charged Jan. 24 with driving without a valid license and driving without a rear registration plate light after he was stopped near the intersection of Northwood Driver and Green Bay Road, police said. He was released on a $1,500 bond and has a scheduled court date of March 6.

THEFT

A resident of the 200 block of Hawthorn Avenue reported Jan. 25 that a package containing shoes was stolen from outside a house, police said. The package had an estimated value of $316.

IDENTITY THEFT

An individual from the 800 block of Vernon Avenue reported Jan. 23 that an individual opened fraudulent accounts with Verizon and a Chase Amazon card, police said. No transactions occurred using the fraudulent accounts.

An individual from the 700 block of Vernon Avenue reported Jan. 28 that an individual opened fraudulent accounts with Verizon and attempted to open one at a Walmart using the Glencoe individual’s information, police said. The Verizon account had a charge of nearly $2,300 while the application to the Walmart was denied.
