CDIA Law Symposium to Provide Updated Insight into Credit Reporting Agencies

New IdentityTheft Scam

Understanding how to effectively work with U.S. credit reporting agencies can be a challenge for the most seasoned attorney, lender or accounts receivable management professional. And because there are limited training opportunities in this space, Washington, D.C.-based Consumer Data Industry Association (CDIA) will host its first Law Symposium designed to help professionals update their knowledge on relevant topics associated with these agencies.

This informative, one-day symposium will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, on July 17, 2018, at the offices of Covington & Burling LLP (One City Center, 850 10th Street NW) in Washington.

Francis Creighton, CDIA’s CEO, told ACA Daily that his staff has secured an impressive line-up of renowned speakers for this can’t-miss event. Here’s a look at some of the top names:

  • Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen, the keynote speaker, will discuss his experience working to protect consumers, ensure economic opportunities and make positive policy changes for families in Connecticut and across the country.
  • Jonah E. Kaplan is the consumer reporting markets specialist and acting program manager in the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection’s Division of Research, Markets & Regulations. Kaplan has experience in the BCFP’s Office of Consumer Response, where he helped build and manage the credit reporting and credit repair complaint programs. He will share his perspective on data accuracy, dispute resolution management and the complaint management program, among other topics.

CDIA’s Law Symposium will be particularly relevant for individuals serving as corporate counsel, general counsel, compliance officer, company executive, government relations professionals, policy directors and data quality assurance professionals.
