(KUTV) — Consumer credit reporting agency Experian launched a free service to help detect the growing threat of child identity theft.
More than one million children were victims of identity theft in 2017, prompting the company to designate September 1 “Child Identity Theft Awareness Day.”
To help parents take the necessary steps to protect their children, the company is offering a free, one-time child ID scan. The service can detect possible child identity theft and fraud.
To use Experian’s free Child ID Scan, visit www.experian.com/childscan.
