Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer does not offer purchase protection. Citing low usage, Citibank removed damage and theft purchase protection from some of its credit cards in 2019.
The Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer purchase protection policy used to cover purchases for 90 days from the date of transaction. Protection applied in cases of theft or damage in a covered event. Cardholders could get up to $10,000 per incident to cover the repair or replacement costs of the covered item. The benefit was capped at $50,000 annually.
That wasn’t the only cardholder benefit Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer customers lost in 2019. They saw the end of the much-lauded Citi® Price Rewind program, which reimbursed you if your recent purchases dropped in price. Return protection and extended warranty protection were also cut for Citi Double Cash cardholders that year.
Other than its 2% cash back (1% when you buy, 1% when you pay), the card’s current benefits are limited. They consist of basics like a free monthly FICO® Score, Citi® Identity Theft Solutions, Lost Wallet® service, and $0 fraud liability. For a full look at your Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer card benefits, you can check your Benefits Guide, which typically arrives with your physical card in the mail. Alternatively, you can log into your Citi online account and select “Card Benefits” under the “Rewards & Benefits” menu.
Several other Citi credit cards continue to offer damage and theft purchase protection. The Citi Premier® Card, a travel and dining rewards card with an annual fee, is one.
Beyond Citi, a number of no-annual-fee credit cards provide purchase protection. For example, the American Express Cash Magnet® Card has a 90-day purchase protection policy. The Chase Freedom Unlimited® has a 120-day damage and theft coverage for qualified purchases.
