Former bank contractor arrested in Friendswood, allegedly with private customer information

New IdentityTheft Scam

A former contractor with BBVA Compass Bank was arrested in Friendswood last weekend after police allegedly found “stacks” of loan documents in her vehicle.

Miranda Fisher Anderson, 39, of San Antonio, is charged with fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, a state jail felony.

Police stopped Anderson for an invalid license plate violation at 2:38 a.m. July 1 in the 400 block of N. Friendswood Drive, the Friendswood Police Department said in a news release.

Anderson was allegedly found to be in possession of fake credit cards, hundreds of blank bank cards, blank checks, printers to produce fake cards and stacks of completed loan applications from BBVA customers, the news release states.

BBVA Compass said in a statement that the bank is cooperating with law enforcement to determine the scope of the personal information accessed.

“At this time, investigations indicate the access was to a very limited number of clients,” the bank states. “The investigation shows this was not part of a hack attack.”

The bank is offering free identity theft protection to any affected customers.

Anderson is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail with bond set at $20,000.
