Former Los Angeles Insurance Agent Arraigned on Over 40 Counts After Allegedly Stealing Co-Workers’ Commissions

December 18, 2020 – LOS ANGELES, Calif. —   Former insurance agent Lloyd Gronich, 61, of Oak Park, was arraigned yesterday on 29 felony counts of grand theft, identity theft and unauthorized california department of insurance logocomputer access, and 13 misdemeanor counts of theft after allegedly stealing $4,204 in commissions belonging to his co-workers. 

An investigation by the California Department of Insurance revealed that on multiple occasions, Gronich defrauded other insurance agents he worked with by stealing their commissions. To facilitate the theft, Gronich stole the identities of his co-workers’ clients and illegally accessed their computerized insurance applications. Gronich then made changes to the applications to divert the commissions to himself for personal use. His alleged theft totaled $4,204.

Gronich was arraigned today at the Los Angeles Superior Court. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case under the California Department of Insurance’s Life and Annuity Consumer Protection Program.

Gronich voluntarily surrendered his insurance license on October 22, 2020.
