CONCORD, CA – The City of Concord and Ripcord Digital are inviting residents to a free paper-shredding event, “Secure Your ID Day,” on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Concord Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Drive.
Locals can bring up to five boxes of documents to be shredded on-site, organizers said. Documents should be removed from binders, but staples and paper clips are acceptable, and as this is a green event, all paper will be recycled.
Ripcord Digital, Better Business Bureau-accredited, will be present to shred documents, and its shredding truck is equipped with a camera so participants can watch the process.
Residents and small businesses are encouraged to attend and take advantage of a key step in identity-theft protection by shredding such sensitive documents as receipts, credit offers, credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks, bank statements, expired charge cards and similar items that are no longer needed, according to the city.
For more tips on preventing identity theft, BBB staff will be on-site to provide expert advice and tips.
