In the world of internet niches, trends come and go as the masses flock towards opportunities that are in style. These include dropshipping, forex, and other niches that guarantee quick profit and are flooded with courses. Sometimes, it can be overwhelming and difficult to know what to do and who to trust.
On the other hand, there is a growing movement of experts looking to tackle less sexy and unequivocally more important subjects such as credit and personal finance. Let’s take credit for example. In 1989, the United States started implementing personal credit scores that would be used to determine how likely someone would be to repay loans and other financial obligations.
To get an established credit score, you need to build up your credit profile, obtain lines of credit, and responsibly pay them off. The problem is that many young adults, and adults in general, see credit as free money without responsibly budgeting to pay back debt that is backed by hefty interest rates. A damaged credit score makes it harder to get approved for mortgages, car loans, credit cards, and can even be a limitation for applying to federal jobs.
This is where Umesh Agarwal comes in. Originally from India, Umesh came to the United States with an engineering degree and no previous credit history. In a true sink-or-swim fashion, he was forced to quickly learn the ins and outs of credit in order to give himself the best chance to succeed. He leveraged his expertise to obtain a master’s degree in Texas and start building a profile that would help in his future business endeavors.
Umesh explains, “I had to do what most people either would not think of or would not care to do. I had to learn everything I could about credit to put myself in a position to succeed. The risk of not doing so would have likely forced me into a situation of stagnation. The journey to learning credit correlated to learning about personal finance, the US housing market, credit cards and rewards, and business lines of credit. This was an invaluable experience. I like to think of it as my personal MBA.”
Eventually, Umesh started helping out friends to help them use the same strategies to improve their credit scores and gain credit history. Fast forward a few years and Umesh partnered with two other credit experts to create Credit 101, a credit repair agency that has serviced thousands of clients and has franchised their model to help entrepreneurs start credit repair businesses of their own. In under one year, Umesh was able to generate 7 figures in revenue by publicly showing people how to improve their credit score and offering premium services to do it for them.
Transparent Journey Documentation on Instagram
Everyone loves an inspirational story. On Instagram, the issue is you don’t know who is authentic and who is blowing hot air. Umesh Agarwal noticed this and decided to take a different approach. He made value the core of his philosophy and transparently documented how he helped people fix credit and his simultaneous rise to become known as the “King of Credit”.
On Umesh’s Instagram page, you can find stories filled with tips on how to access premium credit cards, take advantage of reward points, and build a credit profile that ranks in the top 10% of people nationwide. This transparency has helped Umesh gain a fanbase of over 167,000 people on Instagram.
As with any business, there are tiers to what services Umesh provides. To scale, he has created an inner circle, which is a group of people that get first access to Umesh’s credit strategies, especially ones that are time-sensitive. For busy people, Umesh’s agency also offers comprehensive credit repair services that typically take anywhere from 3-6 months to revamp someone’s credit history.
Umesh explains, “Everything we do is rooted in value. We want to help people. My business is not like other businesses where competition outweighs cumulative success. When we help people fix their credit, we help improve their lives, and this creates something that is more important than short-term gains: appreciation and wellbeing.”Opinions expressed here are the opinions of the author.
