ID.me Reaches 5 Million Users and Scales Leadership Team to Support Growth

ID.me brings on Michael Morrison as CFO, Mike Brown as CTO, Pradheep Sampath as VP of Product

MCLEAN, VA–(Marketwired – December 13, 2017) – ID.me, the next-generation digital identity platform, today announced the company has reached a significant milestone in adoption, marking 5 million users on the platform. Also, today, ID.me announced three senior executives have joined the company’s growing team: Michael Morrison as Chief Financial Officer, Mike Brown as Chief Technology Officer and Pradheep Sampath as VP of Product. With these new additions, the company has scaled to 60 employees.

“We have reached a tipping point in digital identity where C-suite executives across industries are asking their teams how to protect consumer data from fraudulent actors. Federal agencies, healthcare organizations, and financial institutions have selected ID.me to verify the identity of customers for high-risk transactions. ID.me provides a layer of trust to ensure identity is verified and securely authenticated, moving away from relying solely on static identifiers like SSN and date of birth to devices and biometrics,” explains Blake Hall, Founder and CEO of ID.me. “Having Michael, Mike, and Pradheep’s leadership and experienced, proven track record will support the next stage of growth at ID.me, allowing us to best position to scale and serve the market need.”

ID.me is simplifying how individuals securely share their identity online. The company is building a digital identity network where users verify their identity once and are able to use that digital credential across the web to prove their identity — just like they do with their driver’s license in the physical world. Partners across industries use ID.me for online identity proofing and authentication to ensure their platforms and users are protected from fraud and identity theft. ID.me’s identity platform meets the highest standards for online identity proofing and authentication, without compromising access for hard-to-identify groups.

Michael Morrison joined ID.me as CFO. Prior to joining ID.me, Morrison served as CFO for Qology Direct which was an end-to-end performance based sales and marketing company acquiring customers for major Home Service and Telecom providers. Prior to Qology, Morrison held senior finance and operational positions in the mobile payments, telecom and e-commerce sectors for companies such as American Express, Virgin Mobile USA, Sprint and XM Satellite Radio.

Before becoming ID.me’s CTO, Mike Brown was a founding member of comScore, Inc., and served as its CTO for 6 years. Under his leadership, comScore captured 2 ½ trillion events per month and processed over 50,000 analytical reports per day. Brown has also submitted 24+ patent applications, of which 15 were approved. A hands-on leader with decades of industry experience, Brown will further develop ID.me’s identity proofing capabilities and mentor the ID.me engineering team.

As ID.me’s VP of Product, Pradheep Sampath will be responsible for defining and executing the company’s product and user experience strategy. Sampath is a 15-year product management expert with experience leading the product function at multiple technology companies through periods of innovation and growth. He joins ID.me from Spree Commerce, where as head of e-commerce products, he was responsible for product strategy, design and launch of a highly successful SMB-focussed e-commerce portfolio following the company’s acquisition by FirstData. Prior to Spree, Pradheep’s professional experience includes product management positions at technology companies such as Liquidity Services, GXS (now OpenText) and i2 Technologies (now JDA Software).

In March 2017, ID.me secured $19 million in Series B funding from FTV Capital. ID.me was also recognized as Most Disruptive Company at the PYMNTS.com Innovator Award and the K(NO)W Nodes Trailblazer Award earlier this year.

Enterprises are moving to the cloud faster than most of us in security expected. CIOs are going from 0 to 100 in cloud adoption and leaving security teams in the dust. Once cloud is part of an enterprise stack, it’s unclear who has responsibility for the protection of applications, services, and data.
When cloud breaches occur, whether active compromise or a publicly accessible database, the blame must fall on both service providers and users.
In his session at 21st Cloud Expo, Ben Johnson, C…
