Investors Bank launches Giants checking account, debit card – Long Island Business News

New IdentityTheft Scam

Investors Bank announced it is expanding its strategic alliance with the New York Giants for the 2019 football season.

The Short Hill, N.J.-based bank, which began a 10-year partnership with the Giants last year, will ramp it up with the introduction of a New York Giants-branded debit card and checking account.

Investors Bank, which plans to prominently feature the Giants logo on account holders’ debit cards and checks, hopes to “engage and excite the football franchise’s enthusiastic fans,” according to a statement.

The new account was announced yesterday at a ceremony at Quest Diagnostics Training Center in New Jersey, the team’s practice home, with Giants CEO John Mara opening one of the first Giants checking accounts and receiving a personalized Giants debit card.

The Giants and Investors Bank also took the occasion to announce a new joint corporate social responsibility program. Each time Big Blue scores either a touchdown, field goal or safety this season, the bank will donate $250 to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) of New Jersey.

Investors Bank, which has seven branches on Long Island, entered into a deal in July to acquire Islandia-based Gold Coast Bank, which would add seven branches to Investors’ network of 147 branches in New York and New Jersey. The deal is expected to close in early 2020.

Fans and others can open a Giants checking account at any of Investors’ 147 branches. Giants debit card holders will receive a 20 percent discount on merchandise from the team’s web store, and the checking account comes with premium features such as free identity theft protection and cellphone insurance for three smartphones, according to Investors Bank.

As the official consumer and business bank of the Giants, Investors Bank is not the only bank to partner with a professional football team in the area. Buffalo-based M&T Bank, which has 14 branches in Nassau and Suffolk, became the official community bank of the New York Jets in 2017 in a sponsorship deal that extends for four more years.
