Enterprise Holdings, the parent company of National Car Rental, Enterprise, and Alamo, ended its corporate relationship with the National Rifle Association (NRA) after calls for boycotts from liberal activists.

Before Thursday’s decision, NRA members could receive a discount when renting a car from the three companies, as part of the organization’s “five star savings” program.

First National Bank of Omaha also ended its relationship with the NRA on Thursday, eliminating the custom-branded Visa credit cards available to members. The bank said the decision was a response to “customer feedback [that] caused us to review our relationship with the NRA.”

Liberal activist news site ThinkProgress started a campaign highlighting 22 companies that “support” the NRA.

“Much like AARP or AAA, the organization promotes its discounts for members as a selling point for why people should join. The ‘valuable 5-star benefits’ promised include not just a subscription to an NRA magazine and a gun-owner liability protection policy but also savings on insurance, identity theft protection, hearing aids, car rentals, moving vans, shipping, and even wine,” Kira Lerner and Josh Israel wrote on its site.

A growing number of Republican politicians are facing questions from activists over taking contributions from the NRA.

During CNN’s townhall event Wednesday night, Sen. Marco Rubio was asked to no longer accept any money from the gun advocate group.
