MMAP volunteers are needed to assist, counsel, educate and empower

New IdentityTheft Scam

Join us and become a MMAP volunteer.

It’s simple. We have a mission: To educate, counsel and empower Michigan’s older adults and individuals with disabilities, and those who serve them, so that they can make informed health benefit decisions.

We are the Michigan Medicare Medicaid Assistant Program (MMAP), and we want you to join us.

MMAP is a free service that can help make those decisions, ones that can result in significant cost savings and provide preferred health care coverage options while avoiding fraud and scams.

MMAP helps local clients understand Medicare and Medicaid, compare or enroll in Medicare prescription drug coverage, review Medicare supplemental insurance needs, apply for Medicaid or a Medicare savings program, identify and report Medicare and Medicaid fraud, abuse or scams, and explore long-term care insurance options.

We want your talents and skills! MMAP needs people who have computer skills, are internet-savvy and who have a sincere desire to help others understand their health benefit options. Training is provided in Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations. Your compassion to help others is your gift to share!

MMAP counselors are not connected with any insurance company, nor are they licensed to sell insurance. The sole purpose of MMAP counselors is to serve clients objectively and confidentially. They help clients understand medical bills, Medicare summary notices (MSN), assist with claims and appeals, and help identify resources for prescription drug assistance, as well as being a resource to identify and report scams, identity theft, and Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse (SMP).

Reasons to join the MMAP volunteer team:
