Pierce Real Estate invites the public to their Home Buying Seminar Saturday, April 14. From 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. attendees will learn about the ins and outs of buying a home including loans, down payments, credit scores, and the buying process. The event will be held at Pierce Real Estate located on 551 East Street in Hollister and will feature a guest speaker from Guild Mortgage.
“We decided to host this seminar as a service to the community,” Owner/Broker/Realtor Ray Pierce said. “There are so many questions out there and so much misinformation that we thought it would be a service to give people the most up-to-date information available.”
Said Realtor Cyndy Decker: “We are going to discuss how to get pre-approved for a mortgage, down payment requirements, down payment assistance and grants, the types of loan programs that are available, credit scores, and credit repair and we will open it up to a question and answer session for anything we might have missed.”
Pierce says the real estate market in San Benito County is moving up in price while inventory is very low.
“Based on current inventory, it is difficult to meet the demand of the public for homes to purchase,” he added.
While inventory may be low, Decker says they see all types of buyers interested in moving to San Benito County.
“We see first time homebuyers, move-up buyers, investors, and buyers who are downsizing,” she said.
Jayson Stebbins from Guild Mortgage says potential buyers should not be put off by recent rate hikes.
“Mortgage financing is in a great place, primarily because the industry is stocked with programs and products to help all type of buyers,” Stebbins said. “While some programs like Jumbo loans may be a little more documentation heavy and more regulated, there are so many other options and loans that continue to cater to home buyers, or people looking to refinance. While rates are going up, the reality is we are still in a historically low spot for rates, and that should not stop people from looking into home ownership.”
